BY-LAWS OF THE PERSHING COUNTY ALUMNI ASSOCIATION
Article I. Name
The name of this organization shall be the Pershing County Alumni Association.
Article II. Object
The object of this organization shall be to keep its members together by a periodical
discussion of its problems and interests and to further strengthen the organization
by holding a banquet each year in connection with a formal ball.
Article III. Membership
Section I. Membership in this organization shall be limited to those persons who have
graduated from Pershing County High School with a diploma.
Section II. Each member of the Pershing County Alumni Association shall have one (1) vote.
Article IV. Officers
Section I. President
It shall be the duty of the President to conduct and call meetings whenever
deemed necessary; to countersign all checks drawn on the accounts of this
organization.
Section II. Vice-President
It shall be the duty of the Vice-President to assist the President in any and
every way possible to further the aims of this organization and in the case of
the President’s absence from meeting the Vice-President is authorized to preside.
Section III. Secretary
It shall be the duty of the Secretary to keep a record of the business
transactions and a record of the meetings of the Pershing County
Alumni Association
Section IV. Treasurer
It shall be the duty of the Treasurer to keep the funds of this organization
in a local bank and to collect all moneys due the Pershing county Alumni
Association.
Section V. Historian
It shall be the duty of the Historian to keep an accurate record of the
Graduates of the Pershing County High School.
Section VI. Trustees
It shall be the duty of the Trustees of this organization to act in an
advisory capacity.
Article V. Meetings and Quorums
Section I. All meetings of the Pershing County Alumni Association shall be
called by the President at a time and place convenient to the members
that will attend.
Section II. The attendance at the Annual Banquet shall constitute a quorum.
Section III. All Pershing County Alumni Association meetings shall be open to
the entire membership of the Association.
Article VI. Elections
Section I. The officers of the Pershing County Alumni Association shall be
elected by voice vote after nominations have been made from the floor.
Section II. Those candidates receiving the greatest number of votes shall be duly elected.
Section III. Election of officers shall be held at the Annual Banquet of the Pershing
County Alumni Association. The vote shall be by voice and a majority
shall elect. Proxy votes shall be void.
Section IV. Officers shall not serve for more than one (1) consecutive year in the same office.
Article VII. Parliamentary Authority
Roberts Rules of Order, revised, shall be authority in all questions of Parliamentary Law.
Section I. Valedictorian Scholarship in the amount of no less than $500.00 shall be
presented to the Valedictorian of the Graduating Class of Pershing County
High School each year, except that the alternate recipient shall be the
Salutatorian if just cause is established for denying the scholarship to the
Valedictorian. The just cause to be established by the Officers and Trustees
of the Association.
Section II. Two (2) Trade School scholarships in the amount of no less than $350.00
each shall be presented to deserving Seniors of Pershing County High
School each year with an alternate. Basis of selection shall be need and
scholastic standing established by written application provided by the
Association.
Section III. All Scholarships shall be awarded one-half (1/2) for the first semester
or quarter and one-half (1/2) for the second semester or quarter at the
institution of choice of the recipient.
Section IV. Each year a deserving graduating Senior of Pershing County High
School will be presented a Leadership Plaque. Selection of the recipient
shall be by the faculty of Pershing County High School with approval of
the Officers and Trustees of the Pershing County Alumni Association.
Basis of selection for the Leadership Plaque shall be: Leadership of the
potential recipient in motivating his or her fellow students to socially
accepted values of the society in which he or she lives; and the expression
of those values by the potential recipient.
Article XIII. Amendments
The By-Laws may be amended at any regular meeting of the Pershing County
Alumni Association by a Two Thirds (2/3) votes of its members present.
