PERSHING COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL ALUMNI ASSOCIATION
Alumni Board Meeting Minutes
April 24, 2013 5:15-6:30 p.m.
Attendance: Lynn Christofferson, Leslie Steward, Jerry Atkinson, Jody Bailee, Lisa Booth, and Denice Davis.
Treasurer’s Report: Checking $7,136.24, Savings $3,009.37, Investment Time Account + Interest $10,095.39.
Lynn called the meeting to order at 5:15 p.m. Treasurer’s report was given, $250.00 was received in honor of Anne Stone scholarship monies received totaling $420.00 to date. Two pay-pal payments have been received for dues and dinners totaling 21 reservations made to date. 2100 invitations have been mailed and 264 have been returned with no forwarding addresses. So the stamps are working. We will continue to gather updated addresses. Alumni may go to the website and pull off the invitation if they have not received one. Jerry told the group that Denice Munk Davis had come forward to help with the computer list and checking it against the historical signature book and graduation list from the school so that the list is complete and nobody is forgotten.
Lynn talked about making posters to interest the seniors. Jody drove 600 miles to make the meeting and go to school and talk to the seniors. Lynn will design a poster and get help to copy and put up at the school and maybe some other places around town. Jody talked about re-applying for scholarship monies after the first year. They would have to come back to the banquet to promote their need for an additional scholarship and accept it. Lynn will talk to Patty about something in the announcements each week advising the seniors in a countdown fashion that Alumni is coming and they are the guests of honor.
“SIX weeks until the P.C.H.S. ALUMNI Banquet and Ball coming Saturday June 8, 2013. Seniors are the guests of honor, attending a dinner for free (everyone else pays $25.00), accepting scholarships if applicable, and every senior having a chance to win a $100.00 door prize. Dance to a DJ after the banquet.”
We watched the video that Rachael Leavitt made for the seniors about being a MUSTANG. Lynn and Jody will be going tomorrow and then they will go after the May meeting. Mr. Rowe advised Jerry with a phone call, that Mrs. Bake wants to help encourage the seniors, so Lynn and Jody will also contact her. The video will be shown or link provided so that the seniors can see it at one of the senior meeting days.
We called Rachael Leavitt in Las Vegas and she advised ups that the 5K registration monies will be going to the scholarship fund for two scholarships in honor of Mary Ryan and Luetta Thomas. She has corporate sponsors that should pretty much pay for the T-shirts and the breakfast for the runners. So she is hoping for about two $250.00 scholarships that could be presented by family members representing the honored.
Rachael Leavitt advised us that the class of 73 and 83 have no liaison, so she will advise them of reunion activities in the park for any and all that show up.
Leslie shared the DJ letter contract from Jerry Reid. He will play low through the cocktail hour if we want, as we know, there is much visiting during this time.
Lisa has kids on board for community service to help in the kitchen, clear the tables, serve the desserts, and clean the kitchen. It was suggested that junior students be contacted to help.
Next meeting will be Wed., May 22 at 5:15 p.m. at 400 Irish American Road.
Respectfully submitted,
/s/ Jerry Atkinson
