PERSHING COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL ALUMNI ASSOCIATION
Alumni Board Meeting Minutes
May 22, 2013 5:15-6:30 p.m.
Attendance: Lynn Christofferson, Leslie Steward, Jerry Atkinson, Jody Bailie, Jim Rowe, Rachel Craspay and Denice Davis.
Treasurer’s Report: Checking $13,163.14, savings $3009.37; time account $10,104.86
Lynn called the meeting to order at 5:15 p.m. Minutes were posted on the computer after last meeting. Leslie moved we accept and Jim seconded. Treasurer’s report was given. Mustang 5K Fundraiser corporate sponsors $500.00 envelope $105.00 Monies deposited break down: $3380.00 dues; $2475.00 = 97 dinners (19 chickens) total $5855.00 SUB-TOTAL deposit $6641.84 includes 605.00 corporate sponsors + 5K = $7246.84
Jody drove 600 miles to make the meeting and go to school and talk to the seniors tomorrow. Mrs. Bake has offered to assist with this. Jody will meet Shauna and emphasize to the seniors that they are the guests of honor, attending a dinner for free (everyone else pays $25.00), accepting scholarships if applicable and there are 8 scholarships being presented that night for a total of $6850.00, and every senior has a raffle ticket chance to win a $100.00 door prize. Dance to DJ Jerry Reid after the banquet with water and non-alcoholic drinks provided.
We called Rachael Leavitt in Las Vegas and discussed scholarships amounts. Amounts for the two scholarships from MUSTANG 5K will be $750.00 each.
Scholarships: Amounts presented by Alumni Association. Recipients will be disclosed for the public at the next meeting.
Valedictorian: $1500.00
Salutatorian: $1000.00
Three (3) General Scholarships in the amount of $750.00
MUSTANG 5K Fundraiser Scholarship Monies
Mary Ryan Memorial Scholarship: $750.00
Louetta Thomas Memorial Scholarship: $750.00
Anne Stone Memorial Scholarship: $600.00
Lynn will present the scholarship awards to these students Graduation night. They must attend the Alumni Banquet to receive their scholarship.
Leslie shared the DJ letter contract from Jerry Reid. Jerry will need to get in early to set up his equipment. Jerry suggested that in our newspaper ad we state music by DJ Jerry Reid. The dance is $5.00 if you were not at the dinner.
We will need two bartenders for that night. They earn $75.00 + tips. Lynn will ask Lisa about any new city ordinances that could affect us at the Banquet and Ball that night.
Banquet: set up, decorate: Friday, June 7 about 5:00 at the Community Center. Lynn will talk to Russel Fecht about the banner and the curtain from the high school for our use Alumni Banquet night.
Next meeting will be Wed., June 5 at 5:15 p.m. at 400 Irish American Road.
